This week’s exercise was a tad
difficult for me, in the beginning. I chose the wrong person to join it and me
didn’t work. I was very distracted and couldn’t focus at all. I almost got
irritated and turn off the recording. The 2nd time, I tried I chose
my grandmother to join me. She passed away when I was 4 and I hardly remember
her. I have a special connection with her, if I can call it that. I was told we
looked a lot alike and she loved me very much. Once in a while, I dream of her
and we actually get to talk in the dream. This time, it worked like magic. I
have experienced the waterfall and the rushing mountain stream until I reached
the river flowing into the ocean. The freedom experienced was breathtaking and was
able to fully emerge into the exercise.
“One cannot lead another where one
has not gone himself”. I have lived by
these words for a long time and I truly believe that walking the walk is the
way to go. Talking is easy but doing it is the hard part. In my personal life,
I try to think of the other and walk in their shoes, hypothetically, in my
professional life, it is also important to show compassion and understanding and
even though I might have not experienced what my client does, I can embrace it
with compassion, care and love.

ReplyDeleteIt’s wonderful that you and your grandmother created such a bond when you were little. May I ask if you were her first grand-daughter? I have such wonderful memories of my grandmother and at times my heart aches for her loving embrace. She died in 1999 but it seems like it was just yesterday. Hope you had a positive day on purpose.

ReplyDeleteYou did a great job on this week’s discussion! I really enjoyed reading your blog because you gave me a different outlook on why it may not work for some such as yourself.
I am sorry to hear about your grandmother but she could be guiding you through this life right now and I think that’s a wonderful person to think of during meditating in this week’s exercise.
To further the blog would you do this exercise again knowing what you know now?
